Chicago-based JUNGLE OF CITIES (JOC) is a new, exciting, and engaging six-piece ensemble performing an all-original mix of blues rock, country, world, and alt-pop. Think - Johnny Cash meets Pink Floyd meets Nick Cave.

Mixing both strong male and female lead vocals with powerful background harmonies, JOC's music charts a course between appealing to the familiar Americana tradition, and opening a fresh cut edge to the genre. JOC's music is poetic; telling stories of darkness and hope, anger and longing. Drawing on inspiration from Brecht, Orwell, Ginsberg, as well as modern writers such as Chris Hedges and Jared Diamond, the songs are dramatic, contemplative, rousing and topical, engaging questions of power and peace, control and humanity.

JOC has been honored to grace the stages at venues and events throughout Illinois and Wisconsin, and even as far as Nashville, Tennessee, and has also opened for national and regional bands Dawes, and Purgatory Hill. JOC also recently released their first CD, "Devils Work" available thru iTunes and Spotify and is currently in the studio recording their second CD.
